Everyone lies from time to time. Whether in work, school, or even family. Lies help us to take advantage, which we couldn’t take, if we were telling the truth all the time. Sometimes, a little lie is really better than the whole truth. You can’t tell your boss that he is a stupid idiot, just because you think that he is. Instead of that, you tell him the nicest things you can, just to keep him thinking, that you are the one for the job. We lie almost everyday. If a friend wants to go out and you are just lazy to go, you could tell him that you are. But telling him that you are busy with your studies sounds much better and more intelligent. However, too much lying can become hard to handle. If you lie to everyone, everyday, and you tell them things that are simply too unreal, you don’t gain respect, you lose it. Lying is not a good way to make friends. Hypocrisy works only to some extent. You can’t make someone else from you just by saying things you wouldn’t normally say to a best friend, who knows you very well. Then again, a little lie to someone you are just getting to know can help you develop relationship with him/her. All in all, lies make our lives easier. We can get over some problems with no struggle just by telling a lie or two. But lie too much, and you are in trouble. Everyone has to know when to lie, and when not to lie.
The fog was falling down on the village of Buryville when I heard the scream. I walked to the second floor. She screamed again. It was a faint sound causing my whole body to shake. I was frightened to death. I was still shaking when the alarm woke me up.
It was already fifteen hours of driving when I woke up. I looked behind myself. Everyone was dreaming. Summer holiday, finally! It was so calm in the bus, no one was talking. After this observation, I opened the cola can, grabbed the steering wheel and focused on the road again.
Kate was washing her teeth. She has completely forgotten to go to work and was already fifteen minutes late. She grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs. Suddenly, on the last step, she tripped over and fell to the ground, knocking two of her teeth out of her mouth.
I was wondering how to repair that thing. Every single one of my attempts was a total failure. I was already completely wet. But I swore not to give up on this. All of a sudden, the bell rang and I went to the math lesson. “Damn you, evil toilet!”
Downloading music, movies and other creations in digital form is one of the most discussed issues today. Some people say that downloading from internet is a daylight thievery, while the others say that it is totally normal to do so.
On one hand, if no one was going to pay for music or films, it would very soon put an end to film and music industry. Artists and actors are doing it for money, and when we download a film or music album, we are actually stealing the money from them. People wouldn’t normally steal the CD or DVD in the shop, but they are actually doing the same with only one difference: they are using internet, where they have total anonymity.
While it is true to say that people are stealing by illegally downloading, it is also true that films and music are sometimes much overvalued. And a very big part of this sum is consumed by the production companies and retailers, so they don’t go to the artists themselves, but only to the companies between them and the customer. Because of this fact, if someone downloads music and films, he/she is not doing much harm to the artists themselves. Thus downloading is in fact to some extent tolerable.
All in all, I don’t see any way how illegal downloading can be stopped and yes, it is theft, but it is not doing much harm to any company, nor any artist or actor. Everyone who illegally downloads should be aware that he/she is a criminal, though.
