Child sponsorship

1. Introduction
It’s the 24th December; the people in the world are waiting for the miracle of Christmas. But there are lots of children, who are unhappy and hungry, who must work very hard, who don’t get any presents. We can make a miracle for them. The miracle’s name is the Child sponsorship. I want to speak about this program in my essay, why it is good and I want to persuade you to think about the Child sponsorship, too.

2. What is the Child Sponsorship?
Child sponsorship allows an individual, typically of a developed country, to sponsor a child living in a developing country until s/he becomes self sufficient. It means financially support the education, health or security of the sponsored child.

3. Child sponsorship process
If you want to “adopt” a child, you can do it in two ways. The easier way is via the Internet. There are lots of pages with this problem. You can read the information; you can see the photos of the children. Then you choose a child. Next you must complete the questionnaire. Then the organisation will call you and you will send the money.
The other way is by the Church. You can meet the priest and he can help you. Lots of parishes are engaged in these projects, they also have their own Child sponsorships. So, they help you with the questionnaire and they can collect your money and send it, too.
When the regional charitable organization gets the money, your child can go to a local school – s/he gets the aids, food, uniform from the school. Child’s parents don’t see the money. It is only for your child. During the school year, the child sends you letters with his/her photos from school and the school reports. You can send him/her letters and your photos, too. You can send him more things, but the mission centres don’t support this idea. It can raise jealousy in the other kids. Also the transport fee should be more expensive than the thing itself in the parcel.

4. The opinions of Child sponsorship

Child sponsorship has lots of different opinions. The opponents say that child sponsorship could alienate the relatively privileged sponsored children from their peers and may perpetuate harmful stereotypes about third-world citizens being helpless. They also claim that child sponsorship causes cultural confusion and unrealistic aspirations on the part of the recipient. Next animadversion is in selection – the help is only for one child, not for community.
The defenders of the Child sponsorship say it is better to help one individual thoroughly than absurbly try to help everyone. Such collective help results in no individual profit at all.

5. Conclusion
In my essay I eplained the Child sponsorship idea. I know I can’t help all those needy people myself. But I can help one child. It is a nice feeling to know that somewhere in the world there is a man who can read, write and count thanks to me. It is not important for him to be a layer, doctor or manager. But it is very important that he can find a good job, he can read his employment contract and count his wages. Nobody can cheat him. And this is the main idea of the Child sponsorship.

Story of Helen Burns (from film Jane Eyre) - referát

Helen Burns was a young girl, who grew up in Lowood Charity School. We meet her at the beginning of the film “Jane Eyre”. This young lady makes friends with Jane Eyre, when Jane enters the school and when the strict headmaster Mr. Brocklehurst ordered Jane to stand up on a seat. But when the girls are singing pious songs the headmaster suddenly said, that Jane had to sing together with girls. And this was the first situation, when Helen Burns met Jane.
Girls were sleeping when Helen woke up Jane and gave her bread with cheese. Jane was very glad because she did not eat all the day. After she had a little snack, Jane asked Helen about her name and from this time the girls started being good friends.
Helen’s story continues. She has bigger healthy problems. She still has a cough. In the afternoon Jane was drawing and asked Helen to put her bonnet down. But after some minutes the headmaster came into the room and saw her. This old man was so annoyed that he ordered to cut Helen’s hair. But Jane was sorry for Helen and so she put her bonnet down and let her hair cut down, too.
Helen’s illness became worse. When she was coughing, it hurt her. One winter night health state changed. When Jane woke up Helen was lying in another bed. Jane went downstairs and found her friend lying in another bed. Helen really looked bad and Jane got down beside her. Jane woke up and checked Helen’s body but she was dead in the morning.

W.Shakespeare- Romeo and Juliet - referát

My report is about a play Romeo and Juliet from William Shakespeare.
Biography
William Shakespeare is considered to be the greatest of all dramatists all over the world. He was born on 23rd April 1564 at Stratford upon Avon. He attended he local grammar school, in the age of 18 he married Anne Hathaway and they had three children. 1592 Shakespeare came to London and joined a group of actors known as the Lord Chamberlain’s Man. Eight years later he bought his own theatre and named it the Globe Theatre, which was out door and actors played in the open air. His plays have been popular with Queen Elizabeth I, who loved music and drama. In those times Shakespeare made enough money to build a comfortable life. The strange thing is that he died on the same day as he was born in the age of 52. The legend says that he died after a loud and noisy birthday celebration with his friends. His plays were first published in 1623. He wrote sonnets and 37 plays, for example the taming of a shrew, Othello, Hamlet, Macbeth, or a midsummer night’s dream.

Romeo and Juliet:
His play Romeo and Juliet is the best known tragedy all over the world. It is about the unhappy love and death. The main character are Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet the only children of two powerful houses of Verona. These two families hate each other. Romeo meets Juliet at the ball and fells in love with her although he knows she is Capulet. Juliet feels the same and next day they are secretly married. However, by unfortunate coincidence Romeo kills Tybalt, who is Juliet’s cousin. Prince of Verona sends Romeo to the exile and Juliet is forced to marry a young man called Paris. In desperation she seeks help in a medicine for sleeping, that will make her appear dead. Romeo hears that Juliet is dead and buys poison resolved to die by her side. He takes the poison but Juliet wakes up and when she sees that Romeo is dead, she kills herself with his sword. Both Montague and Capulet Houses make up only after death of their beloved children.

My opinion:
I like Shakespeare, mostly his comedies. But Romeo and Juliet is his best known tragedy and I like Shakespeare’s ideas in this play. Actually in all his plays. I respect him for his work and his share to world literature. But I thing he is not the best writer ever. He was he best one in his age and country, but before and from that time there were many excellent writers too.
